A Message From Chief of Police, Joe Hawn

Welcome to the Winona Lake Police Department web page.  I hope you find this to be a helpful source of information about our department.  We attempt to keep the information up to date and accurate so that you may always be informed of police department activities and issues of concern that effect you as citizens.  Our goal is to provide the best police service possible and to do that we are always looking at ways to keep the lines of communication open.  The department relies on your eyes and ears to assist us with crime detection and have used the information provided by citizens to detect and solve crimes committed in Winona Lake.

You may contact the department in several ways, email, twitter, facebook, or telephone.  We are also building a data base of email address’ and cell phone numbers for text messages on-line through Nixle.com.  Using your computer, log onto the Nixle web site and register your email and or cell phone number so that you may receive announcements from the Town concerning issues such as road closings, power outages, emergency information, and activities that are occurring within Winona Lake.  We will also post crime alerts in the event a series of incidents are occurring in a particular area.

You will find links and forms that will save you time when you need assistance from the police department.  Please use these helpful options as it will streamline the operation of the office.  With the convenience of the internet, we can save time and money when providing the service or information you need.

The Winona Lake Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Reserve Deputy Marshall. Applications can be picked up during regular business hours Monday thru Friday 9am to 5pm at the Winona Lake Town Hall located at 1310 Park Ave Winona Lake, IN. 46590. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, resident of Kosciusko County, must possess a high school diploma or GED and must have a valid driver's license. Applications will be accepted until February 2, 2018.

Divisions

Road Patrol
The patrol division is the primary element of the department, responding to calls for help, enforcing state laws and municipal ordinances.

 

Bike Patrol
The bike patrol promotes a better and safer environment for the community. It is allows the department to patrol Winona Lakes’s 3 miles of Greenway and Boardwalk and 10 miles of extensive mountain biking trail system

K-9 Unit
The Winona Lake Police Department’s K-9 Unit was started in 1999 through various grant programs. Since 1999 two K-9 dogs have serviced the Winona Lake Police Department.
